Kenzie drank most of her bottle and got fussy a little early for her morning nap. She only slept for about 45 minutes and woke up crying hard. She ate lunch a little better than yesterday (roll, pineapple, beans, broccoli) -- she mostly ate roll. She only drank about half of her milk before her seconds nap and has already woke up 3 times crying, but I have been able to get her back to sleep each time so far. She had a pretty normal and good sized poop this morning.
She played great until her morning nap. She was especially getting a kick out of pulling all of the toys off of the toys shelves. She kept looking at me proudly, like she was doing something great! : )
This week when Kenzie has made it up to the big window to look out, she then stays their and fusses until one of us help her get down. It is like she thinks she's stuck and all of the sudden can't remember how to get down. It is really funny because almost all of the kiddos go through this stage.
After Kenzie woke up from her morning nap she played fine for the first 30 minutes or so, then it was like a switch flipped and she was very fussy and clingy until almost lunch time. If I even tried to put her down, she went slightly ballistic. I just about called, but thought I would wait and see how she did after lunch and if she had trouble going down for a nap. All of that went fine, so... We'll see how she is after she wakes up from her afternoon nap.

3/29/11
Kenzie didn't drink much before she went down for her average lengthed morning nap. At lunch we gave her some rice, oranges and pepper bits but you hadn't marked shrimp. She ate some of the brown rice and a couple bites of oranges, but not much. She also didn't drink much of her pre-afternoon nap bottle either. Her afternoon nap was shorter than usual (less than 1.5 hours).
Kenzie got a piece of play bread and was playing the give and take game with me. She was handing it to me then walking away. She'd get anywhere from a couple steps away to across the room before she came back to me with her arms out wanting the bread back.
Kenzie has really had separation anxiety from me lately. If I have to leave the room, even briefly (to get a bottle, go the the bathroom...) she howls when I get to the door. Even when Gary is in the room with her, she still has been doing it.
Kenzie has really been banging toys together. It doesn't matter whether it is two tools, pieces of food, cars, phones, keys... She hold one in each hand and bangs away. : )
Morgan was in the igloo today and was playing peek-a-boo with Kenzie. Kenzie was loving it and chuckling like crazy, which encouraged Morgan to do it for quite a while.

I thought that Kenzie might actually make it to stay up for breakfast this morning because she was so busy and playing so happily. At 8:40 the switch flipped and she started following me around fussing. She was ready to go to bed! : )
She napped and drank about average this morning. At lunch we had tomato soup (didn't eat or drink any of that), grilled cheese sandwich (ate close to a quarter) and apple bits (at all of them -- about 3 slices cut in bits).
She was really into carrying one of the smaller cabbage patch dolls around. She wasn't really paying attention to it or doing anything with it, just carrying it like she does any other toy. Part of the time it was upside down and part of the time it was right side up.
She was also looking at a couple books. She will actually sit down and turn pages, looking at the pictures, for several minutes and is very focused during that time.
Kenzie was trying to put her foot into one of the dress-up shoes for a little while today. She ended up on her bottom a couple times, but that didn't phase her, just got back up and was trying again.

Kenzie's morning nap was only about 45 minutes this morning (I didn't give her a bottle before she went down since it hadn't been 4 hours since her previous one. At lunch she ate great -- Turkey burger on a bun (bits of it), green beans (lots of them) and kiwi (tasted it). She only drank about 4 ounces of her bottle this morning. She was very ready for her afternoon nap. Hopefully she will sleep better.
Kenzie was her usual busy self -- playing with keys, play food, telephones and the dollies. Oh yes, and blowing on the workbench screws to make them whistle, of course.
Kenzie was playing peek-a-book with Gary around the closet frame in the back room today. When Joslyn and Morgan saw what she was doing, they had to go over and join her. It was adorable and it was fun to see Kenzie being the leader in the play! : )
She was straining to poop right before her afternoon nap, but only got out one little pea-sized piece, so will probably be pooping this afternoon or evening.

Kenzie drank all 7 ounces of her bottle before she took a pretty short morning nap. At lunch she ate some pineapple bits, sweet potatoes and about a quarter of a burrito (mostly the flour shell). She drank about 6 ounces before she went down for her seconds nap. Her short morning nap must have caught up with her because she was asleep almost immediately. ; )
Kenzie was walking around with a set of play keys in each hand, either jingling them or chewing on them. That are actually real keys that my dad had that don't fit anything anymore. We have sanitized them and run them through the dishwasher to keep them sanitized. The kiddos love them!
Gary was bopping the wilting balloon (or "ball" as Kenzie calls it) and making it go up and hit the fan blades. Kenzie love it and was really laughing! : )
Jadey accidentally bumped into Kenzie and knocked her over as she walked by today. Jadey instantly stopped and bent down to give her a hug and asked "All right?" Kenzie really responded to her, lay her head against Jadey's shoulder and hugged her back. It was pretty sweet.

Kenzie wasn't up for breakfast so just had her bottle (drank 5 ounces) before her morning nap. At lunch we had scrambled eggs, waffles, hashbrowns and cantaloupe. She didn't eat very much -- no cantaloup, a taste of egg and a few bites of hashbrowns and waffles.
Kenzie had a short nap this morning a good sized poop and then drank only 4 ounces of her bottle before her second nap. So far she is napping well this afternoon.
Kenzie was working hard to get one of the play screws from the work bench to go into the handle of the toy saw. Somehow in the course of figuring it out, she realized that if she blew through the screw it made a whistling sound so had to do that repeatedly.
She was carrying around sets of keys, telephones and miscellaneous other toys. One of the times she was carrying the phone she brought it over to me and was pointing at it. I interpreted that as her wanting me to help her open the flip part for her so I did. Oh my goodness! That obviously was NOT what she wanted because she screeched at me, snatched the phone away and took off. : ) I guess she didn't want help!
When Cypress was in the dress up deal pretending it was his "car", Kenzie was on the outside getting such a kick out of peaking around the corner of it at him. He was playing along with her and telling her "Peek" or "there she is" when she did it and that made her love it even more.

Kenzie drank a 7 ounce bottle and a 5 ounce one so far. She went down for her nap before breakfast, but ate great at lunch -- about 6 sections of mandarin oranges, at least one bite of broccoli, and close to a quarter of a ham sandwich cut into tiny bits. : )
Kenzie napped regular this morning. She was really ready for her nap, hardly moving after I put her down. Grandma must have worn her out this weekend! : ) So far she had awoken once during her afternoon nap -- from coughing. She had a pretty good sized poopy diaper this morning after her morning nap.
Kenzie was very interested in exploring all of the "new" toys from this toy exchange. She loved making the gears on the little tool benches move around and also opening and shutting the storage lid in them.
She carried around one of the flip cell phones and one of the play pizza cutters a lot too, chewing on them occasionally.
In on of the back rooms, the things she played with most were the maracas, shaking them and chuckling or just grinning. In the other back room she was fascinated with the little buttons to push on the little people's parking garage.
She was in a great mood, playing and keeping very happily busy all morning.

Kenzie was fussy right from the time she got here so I made her a bottle and she drank 6 ounces of it. It still didn't change the fussiness though so I changed her and put her down for her nap early. She was asleep almost immediately with no fussing. She took a typical length nap, which means she woke up about 45 minutes earlier than usual because she went down about 45 minutes earlier.
She played great for about the first hour then started getting really fussy. I figured that she was trying to poop because she had a tiny spot in her diaper when she woke up from her morning nap. Sure enough not long before lunch she got out a pretty good one.
At lunch Kenzie ate pretty well. We had meatloaf, whole wheat french bread, cooked carrots and dried apricots. She ate some of everything and most of her french bread.

Kenzie drank a 5 ounce and a 6 ounce bottle so far. She took a little shorter nap than usual, but not by much. At lunch she ate some chicken (home made baked chicken strips) and dinner roll plus a bite of mashed potatoes and a taste of canned cherries. She drank almost all of her juice at lunch also. She had a poopy diaper right before she went down for her afternoon nap.
Kenzie and Connor were adorable this morning. They were playing peek-a-boo around the dress up deal and were both making very happy squeaky sounds and chuckling. They must have continued with it for at least 5 minutes and it seemed like closer to 10.
Kenzie was quite fussy after she woke up from her morning nap. She wanted me to hold her most of the time, which is unlike her. As soon as I put her in her high chair she was fine and started to drink her juice and eat some food so I am wondering if she was actually hungry! : ) She also pooped not long after lunch, so it may have been that also, but it didn't seem like it because she was satisfied as long as either Gary or I were holding her. When she is trying to poop, that doesn't even seem to help.
Emily was gone for a week to see grandma and grandpa. This morning Emily crawled over to Kenzie and sat directly in front of her waving. Kenzie waved back briefly and smiled at her before moving on to play. It was cute, like they were greeting each other after being away.

Kenzie has had a great day! She wasn't fussy at all before breakfast, so she ate with us (whole wheat bagel and peaches) and actually ate quite a bit. After breakfast I gave her a bottle and she drank about 5 ounces then went down for a short morning nap (about an hour). At lunch we offered her corn and macaroni and cheese with ham bits in it. She nibbled on a couple kernels of corn, but loved the mac and cheese with ham and had seconds. She drank some of her juice also. She also drank 5 ounces of her bottle before going down for her seconds nap.
Kenzie's poor little nose ran thick, green and steady before breakfast, but seemed to be better after her morning nap. Before breakfast we must have wiped it at least 12 times and it was nearly down to her lip every time. Poor little thing! it didn't seem to be bugging her though and she acted just fine. Her little eyes actually look much better than I thought that they have for several days. I'm so glad!
Kenzie walked up to Bode and just wrapped her arms around him today in a hug. He is very sweet to the little ones and she likes him a lot. He loved it, hugged her back and bent down and kissed the top of her head. It was quite precious! : )
When I was feeding her the morning bottle, I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to get her to drink anything because she was having such a difficult time breathing, but after the first minute or so, she seemed to get a rhythm of sucking and breathing that worked for her.

Kenzie drank 6 ounces at her first bottle and 7 at the second. At lunch we offered her some roast beef sandwich bits and apple bits. She ate most of the bread and a little apple. She really didn't want to drink much of her juice at all. She napped regular in the morning, but her afternoon one was very restless. She woke up crying 6 times but went back to sleep each time. She was also was making whimpering sounds even when she was sleeping.
She was great the rest of the time -- no fussing at all. She was busy and happy and walking all over! It looks like she has been walking for months now. I love how, once they get it, they just go - go - go!
Kenzie had one of the doctor tools and was examining Morgan's ear with it. She must have been watching some of the bigger kiddos doing it to each other and imitated them. It looked so cute because they are so little. I didn't make it to the camera in time to get a picture of it! Bummer!
We are working with Kenzie on reading the books rather than trying to eat them. As I have said several times, if she ate food the way she tries to eat non-edibles she would have it made. Every time she starts to put a book in her mouth we have been saying "we read the book" and helping her open it up and look at it or actually read it with/to her. She does like to be read to also, so that makes it easier.

Kenzie drank a 6 ounce and a 7 ounce bottle today. Her morning nap was about 30 minutes shorter than usual and her afternoon nap was only 40 minutes long. At lunch we gave her some hashbrown and burger casserole and some roll and some kiwi. She didn't seem to eat much of anything, but did drink a lot of her juice.
Kenzie was looking at the books independently this morning. She probably would have been carrying them over for Gary to read again, but he was busy facilitating appropriate play among the big boys much of the early morning when she was up.
Kenzie has figured out how to put the stethoscope around her neck now. I didn't show her so she must have just learned either by watching the bigger kiddos or by accident. Anyway, she had one around her neck as she cruised around much of the morning. It frustrated her a couple times when she couldn't get it back off immediately, but she either got it or I or one of the kiddos helped her. Bode loves helping her when she needs something.
Kenzie and Joslyn were playing side by side with a fire fighter hat in between them. They were putting other toys inside the hat and taking them back out again. It was almost like they were taking turns. All the other kiddos had outside stuff today so they were the only two I had in. If you have some boots or shoes that will stay on for sure that you don't care if they get a little mucky and a snowsuit, snow pants or thick pants that you don't mind getting mucky, I think we will start taking everyone out again next week if it is warm enough. Hurray!!! : )

Kenzie drank 5.5 ounces this morning before her nap and 7 before her afternoon one. She also drank a lot of juice at lunch and ate pretty good then too. She ate bits of turkey, crescent roll, tiny pieces of dried mango and a couple bites of squash.
Kenzie took a regular morning nap and was pretty happy, only two brief fussy times. Both times she pooped right after. The first was pretty small, but the second one was regular sized.
Kenzie really wasn't sure about me wearing glasses. She was still looking at me strangely the rest of the morning. It wasn't that she was scared or even uncomfortable with it, just really examining me.
You should have seen her taking Gary books to read this morning. It was adorable. When she brought him the first one, he picked her up, put her on his lap and read it to her. As soon as it was done she wanted down and as soon as she was down she went and got another book and brought it over. Gary love it! : )

Kenzie drank 7 ounces before her shorter than usual morning nap. She was very fussy when she woke up and then I saw her straining and realized what the problem was. She only got out a very firm egg sized poop, but it must have been enough to relieve her because she was fine the rest of the morning.
At lunch she actually ate pretty well. I got about three or four mandarin oranges into her (by hand feeding her -- not with a spoon- tiny piece by tiny piece). She also ate some ham and crackers. She drank almost all of her juice too. That is probably the biggest meal I have seen her eat! Before her afternoon nap she also drank 5 ounces, so she should be pretty full and contented.
Kenzie really likes putting things into other things. She is always putting the spoons, doctor tools or other smaller things into the cups and carrying them around. She also acts like she is stirring whatever is in the cup sometimes too, which is really cute.
She also likes to just carry or chew on the doctor tools. She especially likes the syringe, thermometer and the deal to look in their eyes and ears (and the stethoscope, of course). I think it is because they are all pretty small and easy for her to grasp.
Before I put her down for a nap, I always take her over to give Gary a love. She knows what is coming now and almost always starts grinning or chuckling before we even get to him, in anticipation. She is such a little dolly!

Kenzie was in bed at breakfast after drinking 5.5 ounces of her bottle. She had a normal morning nap and had a medium small hard poop this morning. At lunch we gave her pea pasta salad and it looked like she ate some of the pasta. She chewed up several of the peas so I am sure some of it stayed in, but I don't know. I gave her two bites of applesauce. About half of the first one came back out and all of the seconds. She drank another 5 ounces of her bottle before her afternoon nap.
Kenzie was having fun pushing buttons on the cash registers to make peeping sounds. The first time she did it, she turned around and looked at me like she had really done something! : )
She loves the stethoscopes and was carrying one of them around and/or chewing on one a lot this morning. She even put it around her neck like she knew where it went for a while, which was cute.
I was cuddling Morgan and Kenzie came over to us also with her hands up. Morgan bent down like she was trying to help her up so I asked Morgan if she wanted to hold Kenzie. Her face lit up and she reached for her again. I helped them get situated and Kenzie actually ended up sitting there (on Morgan's lap on my lap) for at least three minutes! Kenzie and Morgan both LOVED it! : )

Kenzie stayed up for breakfast and ate a little cereal, then drank about 5 ounces of her bottle. She took a shorter morning nap (by about 30 minutes) and she also had a pretty good sized poop this morning. At lunch she ate one whole strip of cheese pizza, the topping off of another strip. The cauliflower and the pineapple both went in and out a few times, but I don't think much of either stayed in.
Kenzie really had fun exploring the "new" toys from the toy exchange in both the big room and the two back rooms. She especially liked carrying around one of the stethoscopes. She had it in her hands a lot. She also really liked the shaking toys. We have tambourines and three different types of jingle bells out right now. She picked out one type and those were the ones she played with off.
In the back room her "favorite" for the morning was the steering wheel that has the buttons to push that make different sounds (ice cream truck, race car, train, plane, horn honking).

Kenzie drank 7 ounces of her bottle both 1st and 2nd. I gave her just milk and was shocked with how good she did! She had a shorter morning nap and a shorter afternoon nap. She was really straining hard (and fussing) for about 20 minutes this morning trying to poop. She got one about the size of half a dime out between her nap and lunch. It didn't matter if I was holding her or she was playing or what, she still fussed and just tightened up her whole body! Poor little thing!
We offered Kenzie some peach and pear bits out of the mixed fruit and some noodles, but she really didn't keep anything in (I don't think). She did drink some juice.
Kenzie has really started giving out random loves for Gary and I. Today she went back and forth between us about three times giving love after love, which was just adorable.
I have noticed that she has been increasingly interested in the board books (and not just to try to tear pieces off to eat). Today she was sitting and looking at one three different times that I observed. It is so cute!
She is such an oral little thing. So many times when she is walking or crawling around she has something in her mouth. It might be a toy or a finger, a fuzzy or a stuffed animal. It doesn't seem to matter. She seems to like all textures! If only she liked food that well. Maybe she likes the texture of food just fine. She will put it in her mouth great. It is just getting it on down into the tummy that is the challenge! : )

Kenzie drank 6 ounces before going to bed at about 8:50 -- too tired to stay up for breakfast. I thought she might make it this morning, but the switch flipped at 8:45. She ate three crackers and some chicken at lunch today. I didn't try cherries (canned) or potato salad since it wasn't marked as approved. She drank 7 ounces of her bottle before her afternoon nap.
Kenzie was playing with the little cars and the ramps today. That is the first time I have seen her doing that. She wasn't putting them at the top of the ramp, only a couple inches from the bottom, but she acted like she thought she was hot stuff.
Kenzie was after the lion fur again today, so I finally got smart and put it up out of reach. I got it down when the older kiddos asked me for it, but put it right back up again when they were done. I don't know why I didn't do that earlier!
Since she didn't have the lion fur as a source of fiber, I guess she decided to look elsewhere. She went over and was examining the board books for any loose edges that she could pick at. Even under my watchful eyes, she still managed to get a little strip off of one of them! She is just amazing!

Kenzie drank 5 ounces of her bottle - both morning and before her afternoon nap! She went to bed before breakfast. At lunch we offered her roll, broccoli and bits of pineapple. She chewed a lot of it up, but I'm not sure how much went in and stayed in. It looked like most of the roll did.
Kenzie is obsessed with 'eating' the lion's mane. I keep moving her away from it, but she makes her way back on a very regular basis. Silly girl! I am constantly fishing a hair ball (little one, but still!) out of her fingers or mouth.
I think it is so cute how Kenzie will come over to me randomly and lay her head against me to give and get a love. She must not think I am too bad for digging the in-edibles out of her mouth all the time! : )
When Kenzie woke up from her morning nap and I brought her out to play, Morgan was about beside herself. He was giving her loves, making little squeaky sounds, and saying "Hi! Hi! Hi!" to her.
Her morning nap was about 20 minutes longer than usual today and her afternoon nap about 35 minutes shorter so it basically balanced out.
Kenzie kept going over to the big window and pulling herself up to look outside. At least three different times when she did, it sounded like she said, "Wow!" It was pretty cute!

Kenzie was so busy walking all over and playing great with no fussiness until about 8:30. Then it was like a switch flipped and she was beside herself. I made and fed her a bottle and she ate about 5 ounces of it, then I put her to bed, so no breakfast.
After her nap she was great again until nap time except about a 15 minute time when she was really straining to poop. She had a pretty regular sized poop about 11:00 (and another smaller one about 3:45). We offered her some rice and sauteed peppers and she did eat some of that. She only drank about 4 ounces of her bottle before her afternoon nap. Her first nap was pretty typical, but her second one was quite short (one hour max).
Kenzie has been putting the flip phones up to her ear and walking around with them. Sometimes she is making quiet jabbering sounds and others just carrying it. I think it is so cute how she walks around with a half amused look on her face so often.
In addition to any fuzzy she happens to find on the floor, she also has really been trying to eat the dress-up clothes fur. We have all different types of wild animal costumes out right now, so there is quite a selection. Her favorite seems to be the lion mane. Ugh! It seems like I am constantly trying to intervene before she sticks pieces she had plucked off of it into her mouth or digging it out once it is in. She is quite the determined little one, I am finding.
