Kenzie ate most of her blueberries and bites of her cinnamon raisin English muffins at breakfast today. At lunch she ate most of her saltines and her chicken, a couple bites of canned cherries and a taste of potato salad.
Kenzie was in a great mood today and an even greater one after her morning nap. She kept looking at and pointing to baby Peyton and saying, "Baby". It is so cute.
This morning she was carrying the back packs and waist packs all around. She handed one to me and I thought she wanted me to help her put it on, but when I tried she let me know in no uncertain terms that that was NOT what she wanted. : )
Cypress was being very loving to her on his last day here. I think he understands a little that he isn't going to get to hang out with them anymore after today because he was very affectionate with several of the kiddos.
I hope everything goes well for you all while we are gone and we will look forward to seeing how much "bigger" she had gotten when we get back. NOT! : )

6/22/2011
Kenzie ate everything at breakfast -- biscuit and peaches. At lunch she ate all of her pineapple, most of her baked beans, about half of her broccoli and a couple bites of roll.
Kenzie was giving me the cold shoulder again for most of the morning. She was most than happy to snuggle with Gary, but not me. When it was time to wash after meals, she would fuss when I went over to get her then point at Gary. When he went over to try to help her, she was just fine! The little skunk! I really do think that she totally knows what she is doing too! : )
Kenzie took a morning nap for about an hour this morning. She was easily testy, but didn't seem to have a fever or anything. Taking a morning nap seemed to help her feel a little better, but she still wasn't quite herself for whatever reason.
Kenzie is so cute when I tell her it is time for her sunscreen. She just races over to me to let me put some on her. About half the time she will point to her arms wanting more even right after I have sprayed her with it. Silly girl!

Kenzie ate a bite or two of her waffle pieces and bites of hashbrowns at breakfast. At lunch she ate seconds on shrimp, a bite of colored peppers and most of both her brown rice and her orange slices.
Kenzie was chuckling many times today when she was both watching what the other kiddos were doing and also when she was interacting with them. It is so cute! She gets so tickled, but has a very mild, yet adorable way of celebrating.
She didn't give me the cold shoulder today, but did hug on Gary at least as much as she me. She went over to him at least twice so he would pick her up and cuddle her. : ) I think it is so funny because she almost always sneaks a peak at me while she is doing it, as if to see how I am taking it! : )
Kenzie got her fingers on the right hand bit today. She keeps putting her fingers in the other infants and toddlers mouths -- not always with the results she (or we) would prefer. She has gotten bitten lightly a couple other times lately (Emily, Joslyn) and today's was Morgan, so it isn't even the same kiddo. I have been trying to discover the triggers, and it just seems like she randomly puts her fingers mouths.

Kenzie ate a bite of banana and bites of her cheerios at breakfast. At lunch she ate a sip of tomato soup and bites of both sliced apples and grilled cheese sandwich.
Kenzie was giving me the cold shoulder today. She would go over to Gary and let him hug her, but would have nothing to do with me today. Maybe she was holding it against me that I had said that I would help Cypress come in and Gary could get her. : ) She even went to him when she fell down and bonked her head today. Little turkey! ; )
Kenzie was taking toys to Peyton and putting them right in front of her for her to reach. Of course, then she also started taking toys away FROM Peyton also...
Kenzie frequently goes to the big window to randomly wave at someone (or no one). It is so cute though because she will wave and usually also saw, "Bye!"
Kenzie took an hour nap and had a regular sized and consistency bm this morning.

Kenzie only at bites of her oatmeal and no craisins at breakfast. At lunch she ate all of her noodles, most of her applesauce, about half of her ground beef and a couple peas.
Kenzie was having a blast playing peek-a-boo with Everson, who was in the big block building we had made. She is the one who initiated it. She made it look like so much fun the Morgan, Joslyn and Emily had to come over and join in the fun. She is so fun loving and I love the way her eyes just sparkle when she is having fun like that! What a dolly.
Kenzie was trying to 'catch' a fish with the play poles and fish today without any success. She brought the pole over to me and said, "Help me" just as plain as could be. Later on in the day she said, "Gary, Gary" to get his attention (also totally plain).
We went on a 45 minutes buggy ride/walk around the neighborhood today and Kenzie loved that. We made a lot of stops to look at flowers, say hi to neighbors, pick up fir cones or little flowers, smell the lilacs, blow the dandelion puff balls, listen to the birds, watch the excavator loading a dump truck by the new apartments... We picked up several treasures for them to hold along the way. Some of the kiddos either threw them away or dropped them on the way home, but Kenzie held tightly to everything we collected. : )

Kenzie ate bites of her blueberry bread pudding and seconds on blueberries at breakfast. At lunch she ate about half of her hamburger (quarter), all of her kiwi and seconds on green beans. She was quite the little eater today! : )
Kenzie wasn't tired acting at all this morning so I didn't give her a morning nap. She was a happy camper all the way through today both inside and out. I think it is so cute how much she likes to be outside and explore. We just have to watch her to make sure she isn't eating grass, leaves, pebbles or other pieces of nature she finds laying around. : )
Kenzie was sitting on the couch today and flopping backward against the back of the couch, making her self 'bounce' back. She did it over and over with ponytails just flying and a huge grin on her face. Man, she is cute!
Our roommate, Kate, left in her car this morning and Kenzie saw her going. She raced over to the big window and was waving and saying "Bye!" at her so cute. Kate loved it!
Kenzie was still chewing on things like crazy today. She especially liked the play waterbottles and the velcro fruits and vegetables. She would put them way into her mouth and I think she liked the roughness of the velcro on her gums. She had a lemon half stuffed all the way in her mouth and managed to get her lips closed around it. It passes the chokeable test, but not the "gagable". : )

Kenzie ate a bite of her toast with jelly and about half of her dried mango bits at breakfast. At lunch she ate all of her tropical fruit, bites of her burrito and a taste of sweet potatoes.
Kenzie was in and out of the "box" again multiple times today. She had an easier time and liked it better today because some of the bigger kiddo had put some of the big blocks in the box and she was able to use them as a stool to make it easier for her to get out.
She has really been chewing on the toys a LOT this last week or so. I also have noticed her doing more of the chewing food up (or sucking on it) then spitting it out again. She didn't seem to be doing it as much for a while and is back to it again. Maybe she is teething or it is related to her cold. I don't know.
Kenzie was holding a play phone up to her ear today and Gary went over and was talking to her about it. He asked her if she was talking to Grandma. She grinned at him real big, shrugged her shoulders and kind of chuckled.
She was acting tired after breakfast, so I put her down for a morning nap. She slept for about an hour or a little more. When I put her down for her afternoon nap, she didn't go to sleep right away so I went in to check on her. She had pooped through so I changed her and started over. She went right to sleep the second time. : )

Kenzie ate a bite of her prunes and about half of her cinnamon roll at breakfast. At lunch she ate a bite of her scrambled eggs, some of her waffles and hashbrowns and no cantaloup that I saw.
She wasn't acting tired at all before or after breakfast, so I went ahead and kept her up. She did great and was super busy both inside and out. She did get a little fussy off and on after about 11:00 until lunch (11:30), but even that was sporatic and not bad at all.
Kenzie has figured out how to hold onto the end and put her leg over the side of the "box" to get in and out. She is very proud of herself! : ) For some reason she has an easier time getting in that out, so will fuss for us to help her out once in a while.
In addition to climbing in and out of the box, she is also climbing (or trying to) on many other things (the picnic table, the lego/block table, the chair and couch arms and back, the big blocks and even the toy shelves). She is quite the little monkey! : )
Kenzie realized that a couple of the books we have out with this exchange have buttons that play music when you push them. She was looking at them and making them "sing" over and over with a big grin on her face.

Kenzie ate most of her mixed fruit and about half of her kix cereal at breakfast. At lunch she ate most of her ham (from her sandwich), about half of her mandarin oranges and a bite of her bread (sandwich) and broccoli.
Kenzie cuddle with me a couple times this morning, which was kind of fun. She is usually too busy to cuddle much anymore (unless she is sick). She went over to Gary and gave him a love too, which was super sweet.
She was playing with one of the flip phone today, held it up to her ear and said "Hi!" so sweetly. When we commented on it she started acting all shy and embarrassed. : ) She is such a cutie! I just don't know how she could possibly be any cuter.
Kenzie took a morning nap for a little over an hour. She wasn't really fussy, but was scrubbing on her ears, so I thought that might mean she was tired and she did go right to sleep.

Kenzie was very tired this morning so I helped her to bed a little before breakfast. No bottle again! I don't know what to do differently. I have tried it the usual warmth, cooler and cold, but it doesn't seem to matter. If you have any suggestions, I am more than happy to try it. She napped for about an hour.
At lunch she ate about half of her carrots and meatloaf, a bite of french bread and a taste of dried apricot. Kenzie did pretty good with being gentle today -- only a couple hits to the kids.
We did sidewalk chalk outside today and Kenzie wasn't quite sure about that. She had a lot of fun watching the other kiddos, but the only marks she made herself were the ones I helped her with.
Her nose didn't run as much today and she seemed a lot more herself -- more smiles and happy play times, both with others and independently.

Kenzie ate all of her cinnamon toast and most of her grapes at breakfast. At lunch she ate all of her chicken, most of her canned cherries, bites of dinner roll and a taste of mashed potatoes.
Kenzie was playing peek-a-boo in a variety of ways today. First of all she was playing it with Peyton and I around the arm of the chair and Peyton was chuckling. Later she was playing it with Morgan from inside the block shelf and they were both laughing. Kenzie loves to crawl inside of the block shelf and play with whatever is in there, peek around it or just sit there.
She got extremely angry with me today when I stopped her hand mid-air as she tried to hit at me and sternly told her, "No hitting! Gentle touches!" She whirled around and tossed herself at the floor head first, kind of pile driving herself into the carpet. That really made her mad! The other kiddos have been doing a good job of telling her, "No hitting, gentle touches," also when she hits or hits at them (especially Cypress and Bode).
Her little nose was running more than yesterday again today. It had been better yesterday that either Monday or Tuesday, but seems to be back to Monday status, but more discolored. She did such a great job of coming right over and standing still when I told her I needed to wipe her nose, though, which makes it so much easier than when they fight it.

Kenzie ate bites of both bagel and peaches at breakfast. She was mainly tired -- yawning and rubbing her eyes during breakfast. She napped for about an hour after breakfast, refusing her bottle before it. At lunch she ate all of her finely chopped salad with ranch dressing and about half of both her macaroni and cheese and her corn.
Kenzie climbed into the big block "boat" today with Bode and had so much fun. He is great with the babies and is pretty in tune with what they like and don't like. While they were in the boat, Morgan came over and was "feeding" them out of her hands like pets. For some reason, that hit Kenzie's funny bone and she just cracked up! : ) A little while later, she started "feeding" Bode the same way and laughing as she did it. The whole play interaction was adorable.
Kenzie watched as Everson and Morgan put a "scoop" of play ice cream into one of the bowls and were pretending to eat it. She then went over to the shelf and found a bowl, scoop of ice cream and a spoon and started imitating them. It was great!
After Kenzie's nap we were playing in the back room and she was making Emily laugh by peeking around the toy shelf in there at her. The more Emily laughed, the more Kenzie grinned and did it!

I put Kenzie down for her nap early as she was acting super tired. I tried to give her a bottle before she went down, but she only ate maybe half-an-ounce if that. She napped for about one-and-a-half hours and woke up in a great mood.
At lunch she ate all of her saltine crackers, no sweet potatoes and about half of both her tuna and her orange slices bits. I tried her bottle again before nap, but she just pushed it away. Are you still warming it? I tried it both ways, but it really didn't seem to matter!
I think it is very funny because Kenzie loves it when either Bode or Cypress love on her and hug her, which they both love to do. If one of the girls tried to hug her, she yells at them and pushes them away. I don't think she probably knows the boy-girl difference yet, so it must be because the girls are the ones that about her size and are not always sweet to each other. They are more unpredictable than the big boys. : )
Kenzie was really enjoying playing one of the xylophone pianos in the back room today. She was just banging on it and grinning from ear to ear.
Her nose hasn't run as much today, so maybe she is starting to get over her cold. I hope so for her sake!

Kenzie ate about half of her Chex cereal and all of her fruit salad at breakfast. At lunch she ate a sip of her tomato soup, about half of her roast beef sandwich and all of her apple slice bits.
She wasn't acting tired, so I didn't put her down for a morning nap today. She started acting a little tired about 20 minutes before lunch, but actually did really well -- must have gotten enough sleep this weekend in spite of the sunshine.
Kenzie was looking at one of the books today and reading it out loud (and I do mean loud). It was pretty cute. She isn't usually that loud, but today so was really into it.
Cypress came over and gave Kenzie several loves throughout the morning. She is really the only baby that he gives much attention to on a regular basis. Is also is way sweeter to her when she comes over to bug him or whatever he is doing. He usually will share with her, or make room for her.
We went outside the morning and Kenzie had fun riding in the little cars out there (or pushing the back of them), playing with the balls and just exploring the yard and trying to find something she could "pick" at. : )

Kenzie ate a bite or two of her cantaloupe and most of her french toast at breakfast before going down for a morning nap. At lunch she ate a bite of squash, most of her turkey and all of her crescent roll and dried mango bits.
When mom was leaving today we tried to get her to say "Bye" to her and she wouldn't do it, although she did wave at the window. When Emily's mom was leaving, she said, "Bye-bye" just as plain and clear as could be. Of course that was because no one was trying to get her to. It cracks me up how they will do that.
One of the big boys had tore apart the 'castle' that had been built with the big blocks so that the blocks were scattered all over that side of the room. Little tiny Kenzie went over then and stumbled her way through them over and over, crashing many times, but having the time of her life.
Kenzie gave Cypress a pretty good whop this morning and Cypress immediately stopped her with a "Hey! No hitting!" I think if we could just get all of the kiddos to do that she would quit doing it because she was pretty taken back and moved away from him.
Kenzie has been doing such a good job of saying "elp" and "elp me" when she wants something, especially if it is getting up or things relating to food. I have heard her say it with other things too, though. It really helps their frustration levels when they are able to verbally start expressing themselves.
She was so cute today putting hats on her head. She would put one on then prance around looking in the mirror and showing us with a coy little look on her face, chuckling all the while. She knows she is cute as a bug! : )

Kenzie napped during breakfast. At lunch she ate thirds on saltines, most of her ham, all of her kiwi and a little bean soup. She took about an hour morning nap.
Kenzie wasn't feisty at all until about 8:30, when she started getting tired, so I put her to bed. She only hit two kiddos and one was very called for (one of the big kids was in her space big time).
Kenzie loves it when Thomas is sitting on the floor. She always brings him way more toys than he needs and squats down to talk to him in the cutest way! Today it was dinosaurs and blocks that she was bringing him.
Today when Bode came and went over to tell her "Hi" she backed right up to him so he could give her a hug! I thought that was so cute. She didn't walk over with her arms up to him as you might expect, but the meaning was just as clear.
